Rose River Memorial
Salinas Valley Health staff and community members are invited to join in the local initiative our healthcare system is leading to honor lives impacted by the nearly 800 COVID deaths in Monterey County. The Rose River Memorial is a grassroots art movement that began in Southern California and has since expanded around the world. Its goal is to bring communities together in creating a red felt rose for every life lost.
Rose making events will be scheduled in the near future. Kits will also be available to take home for assembly. Once crafted, the roses will be mounted on recycled fishing nets to create a river of roses. In March 2023, Salinas Valley Health will host a COVID memorial event at which the finished rose display will be featured.
