June 7, 2024 –The publicly elected Board of Directors has named Allen Radner, MD as President/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. The decision was announced during open session following a special board meeting on Thursday evening, June 6. Dr. Radner has been serving in the interim role since December 1, 2023.

“This decision was made after an extensive process,” says Victor Rey, Salinas Valley Health Board of Directors President. “As a public district hospital it was our due diligence to conduct a thorough search to select the right person to lead the future of the organization and support our community’s health needs. In November 2023, the Board engaged WittKieffer, a nationally recognized recruitment firm to assist in the recruitment process and our CEO Search Committee, was comprised of diverse community stakeholders. The Board feels confident about the selection process and our final decision, determining Dr. Radner the most qualified leader to meet our ambitious goals moving forward.”

Dr. Radner joined the medical staff of Salinas Valley Health in 1994 and previously served ten years on the executive team as the healthcare system's Chief Medical Officer. In 2019, he became Chief Executive Officer of Salinas Valley Health Medical Clinics, a network of primary and specialty care clinics serving Monterey County.

Dr. Radner has played a pivotal role at Salinas Valley Health over the past two decades expanding access to care and addressing critical and cultural community health needs. He has been instrumental in helping achieve and maintain exceptional patient safety and clinical quality metrics including a four-star CMS rating and ten consecutive Leapfrog patient safety “A” grades.

“I am fortunate to have been a part of this community and this organization for many years,” says Dr. Allen Radner, Salinas Valley Health President/CEO. “I understand the organization's rich history in Monterey County and our deep commitment to provide quality care to everyone in our community. It is my honor to lead our team in meeting the challenges that lie ahead and making the most of the opportunities before us.”

Dr. Radner becomes the seventh leader of the institution, now in its seventh decade of service to the community. He succeeds previous President/CEO Pete Delgado following Delgado’s announcement in November that after serving in the position for more than a decade, he was retiring.
