Wound Healing Clinic Clerk Receives STAR Award

An admirable and strong work ethic, problem solving skills, dedication and compassion towards patients and staff is why Ana Mendez-Zamora is the recipient of our STAR Award.Ana works as a clerk at the Salinas Valley Health Wound Healing Clinic and exemplifies our STAR values- Support, Teamwork, Accountability and Respect. She received the STAR Award in a special ceremony on Thursday.

“For nearly 17 years, Ana has been an integral member of our Wound Healing Clinic, embodying the true spirit of compassionate care. As a patient advocate, her dedication is unparalleled, consistently putting the needs and well-being of our patients at the forefront,” said Anthony Dueñas, BA, Manager, Outpatient Infusion and Wound Healing Clinic. “Ana’s calm demeanor and extensive knowledge make her a go-to resource for both patients and colleagues alike. She is not only an exceptional team member but also a source of positivity, uplifting everyone’s spirits with her great sense of humor and warm presence. Ana's contributions to our team are invaluable, and we are fortunate to have her as part of our family.”

“This is very meaningful! I love my work!” said Ana Mendez-Zamora. “I think about my parents and the importance of advocating for our patients. Once I start something, I can’t stop until its complete. I have great colleagues. The nurses and doctors at our Wound Healing Clinic are amazing and as a team we positively impact our patients and their families.”

After a stint as a contractor, Ana officially joined Salinas Valley Health as a clerk in the Wound Healing Clinic in 2007 and will be celebrating her 17^th anniversary in November. She is also a certified interpreter for Salinas Valley Health. This is Ana’s second nomination and first STAR Award.

Several outstanding employees received STAR Award nominations for the month of July including Belinda Ruiz, Cheryl Bacon, Jomar Onto, Julia Basaldua, Marissa Garza and Yesenia Jimenez. Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes two extraordinary employees, one with a DAISY Award (for nurses) and another with a STAR Award (for all staff). Nominations can be submitted by patients, visitors and staff. Nomination forms and drop boxes are located throughout the medical center.
