Dedication to exceptional patient care is one of the reasons why Emily Rasmussen, RN, is the recipient of the August DAISY Award. Salinas Valley Health participates in the national DAISY Award program, which celebrates compassionate and skillful nursing care. Emily works in the Observation Care Unit. A patient nominated Emily for the outstanding care she received. Emily was presented with the DAISY Award Wednesday morning while surrounded by colleagues at the medical center.
“This award means a lot to me. Nursing can be a challenging profession and it means so much to be recognized by patients,” says Emily Rasmussen, RN. “We work hard providing great care to all our patients, we treat them like family. We are a great team. Our Observation Care Unit is amazing and we support each other. It’s a joy coming to work.”
“Emily brings a positivity to our unit that is incredibly uplifting. Her attentiveness to patient care goes above and beyond. She takes time to talk with our patients, and she makes them feel heard and cared for as a person,” says Glenda Alinio, Clinical Manager, Observation Care Unit. “Patients frequently praise Emily for making them feel like they genuinely matter. Her contribution to our team and her positive effect on our patients truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award.”
Vanessa Ortiz, RN, from the Observation Care Unit and Celia Grace, RN, Assistant Head Nurse, from the ICU/CCU were also nominated for the August DAISY Award. Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes an outstanding employee with a DAISY Award (for nurses) or a STAR Award (for all staff). Nominations can be submitted by patients, visitors and staff. Nomination forms and drop boxes are located throughout the hospital. To learn more about the awards visit SalinasValleyHealth.com/nomination.
