Salinas Valley Health Celebrates Nurses & Hospital Weeks

May 12, 2023- Salinas Valley Health marked it’s 70th anniversary of serving the community during National Nurses and Hospital Week festivities. The Medical Center’s leadership team presented several peer-nominated awards to staff during an Oscar themed lunch and ceremony which included a walk down the red carpet, buffet, music, photo wall and of course the highly anticipated team and individual awards.
“National Nurses and Hospital Week is our opportunity to recognize the amazing efforts of our staff and physicians,” says Clement Miller, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Salinas Valley Health Chief Operating Officer. “This year though, it seems to take on even more significance. We’re celebrating a 70-year legacy of serving the community as we embrace a future as Salinas Valley Health and are closing the door on three long years of the impact of COVID. There’s lots to celebrate.”
Salinas Valley Health recognizes people in numerous categories reflecting the organization’s STAR values which stand for Support, Teamwork, Accountability and Respect as well as Exemplars in the Magnet Program recognizing nursing excellence. Salinas Valley Health achieved Magnet Designation in 2021, a status only 9% of hospitals nationwide currently hold. Earlier this month, Salinas Valley Health also received its eighth consecutive ‘A’ Patient Safety rating from The Leapfrog Group.
“Our awards ceremony honors some of the amazing people we are fortunate to have in our organization,” says Lisa Paulo, MSN/MPA, RN, CENP, Salinas Valley Health Chief Nursing Officer. “I am in awe every day of the dedication and passion to deliver extraordinary patient care. This week captures the spirit, camaraderie and appreciation we have for one another.”
The celebration of Nurses and Hospital Weeks at Salinas Valley Health includes free meals for all staff, special treats, massages, music, guest speakers, and appreciation gifts. The highlight of the week is the Wednesday afternoon BBQ and awards ceremony. The 2023 honorees include the following:
