March is Women’s History Month and in acknowledgement of the tremendous achievements of our female workforce, I salute every woman at Salinas Valley Health for contributing to a special team that works daily to help our community rise in good health.
Women make up 76% of our staff – on par with the national average and I am especially proud that two thirds of our leaders (executives, directors, managers and supervisors) are females.
In every sector of our healthcare system, I see strong women that work to build positivity, who are passionate about finding new ways to further our mission and who inspire us all to be leaders through everyday demonstration of STAR Values of support, accountability, teamwork and respect.
Diversity and inclusion are key to improving health equity and Salinas Valley Health is extremely proud of the rich range of skills and talents of the women of our workforce. At every level, their dedication to what they do and compassion for those they serve motivates and inspires.
More than three-quarters of healthcare staff in the United States are women, yet the percentage of women on executive teams remains low. At Salinas Valley Health, we are fortunate to have top-notch female executives whose unique skills and talents contribute significantly to our success as a valued resource for the community.
For most of our recent history, at least one woman has served on our board of directors and we deeply appreciate this continued diversity of leadership in governance of our public district medical center.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I extend my gratitude to all the female staff at Salinas Valley Health for their contributions to our team and to our community.
