Tis the Season to Roll-Up Your Sleeves
October 7, 2022 – Medical professionals at Salinas Valley Health are urging people to get their annual flu shot this season. The organization is holding a series of free community clinics to help eliminate any financial burden for families and to increase easy access to vaccination opportunities for all segments of the population. No appointment is needed.
“We must keep our guard up going into the winter flu season,” says Pete Delgado, president/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. “We face the double threat of the latest COVID-19 variants along with the annual flu virus. Now is the time to be proactive and partner with us to protect your entire family.”
Salinas Valley Health has a long history of teaming up with the County of Monterey Health Department to hold free flu-shot clinics at various locations. Nurses and staff from Salinas Valley Health volunteer to support this annual health and well-being initiative. The flu vaccine is safe and the most effective way to prevent getting the flu. In addition, the CDC has determined the flu and COVID-19 vaccine are safe and effective when administered at the same time.
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available for all age groups and the Pfizer-BioNTech Bivalent (Original and Omicron BA.4/BA.5) will be on hand for eligible people 12 years of age and older. This dose is recommended as a first single dose vaccine or as a booster dose at least two months after completion of primary vaccination series with any authorized or approved original COVID-19 vaccine.
Salinas Valley Health is co-sponsoring three opportunities in October to receive either one or both of the vaccines.
