Doctors’ Day celebrates physicians once a year. I, along with our staff and patients, are grateful every day for the compassion and skill shown by our team of physicians at Salinas Valley Health.
During the past two years of the pandemic, physicians have managed multiple unknowns. They have balanced an array of daunting COVID challenges with support of the day-to-day needs of their patients and the organizations with whom they collaborate.
Our team of doctors at Salinas Valley Health is simply among the best. I have always believed in Salinas Valley Health being a physician-led organization. It is why I added physicians as voting members to each committee of the Board of Directors. Physician leadership helps improve the accountability, quality and efficiency of patient care. We are proud, each day, of the amazing care our physicians provide, and we are grateful for their engagement with their patients and our community.
Communication and engagement with patients is fundamental to good patient care. We treat patients, not diseases, not injuries, not numbers on a chart. Salinas Valley Health is proud that scores for physician communication with patients increased to 4 stars in the recent hospital star quality ratings awarded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This is a truly remarkable achievement during COVID and the pandemic-related restrictions on in-person visits. It is just one of many reasons we celebrate our physicians.
As we look to the future, we celebrate the strength of our physician team that continues to rise in meeting tomorrow’s challenges. And we are thankful from the bottom of our hearts for the extraordinary skill and compassion of the 311 Salinas Valley Health physicians who serve this richly diverse community we are fortunate to call home. May they long experience the joy of caring for those who need them.
