The latest Ask The Experts presentation by Salinas Valley Health offers the community information every woman needs to know about breast and cervical cancers. The free Women’s Health event takes place Wednesday, October 16th. It’s an engaging presentation providing valuable insights into two significant threats to women’s health.
“Screenings can save lives,” says Pete Delgado, President/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. “They can lead to the early detection of many cancers. We encourage women attending this event to bring their mothers, daughters, friends, neighbors and spouses.”
Board certified physicians Amy Lantis Stemerman, MD, Hong Zhao, MD and Joanna Oppenheim, MD are the featured speakers at the Woman’s Health forum. Radiologist Dr. Lantis Stemerman, Medical Director of the Salinas Valley Health Nancy Ausonio Breast Health Center, will focus on the importance of yearly mammograms and 3D mammography, while oncologist Dr. Zhao will focus on breast cancer and related treatment plans. Joanna Oppenheim, MD family medicine physician at Salinas Valley Health Prime Care will focus on cervical cancer, screenings and the importance of the HP vaccine, which helps protect against various strains of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
“Cervical cancer is the only cancer you can vaccinate against and screen for today,” says Joanna Oppenheim, MD. “No one should ever die from it. Unfortunately, we’re losing women in our community to it every year. We have the tools to stop this cancer.”
The free event takes place Wednesday, October 16 at the Salinas Valley Health Advanced Imaging located at 5 Lower Ragsdale in Monterey. Doors open at 5pm. Seating is limited. RSVP is required. To register visit SalinasValleyHealth.com/asktheexperts or call 831-759-1890. There will be healthy appetizers and a health information fair prior to the program.
