Salinas Valley Health Nurse Receives DAISY Award
SALINAS, CA, August 1, 2017 - Stephen Isbill, RN is the July recipient of the DAISY award at Salinas Valley Health. Salinas Valley Health participates in the national DAISY Award program, which celebrates compassionate and skillful nursing care. Isbill is a Staff Nurse II in the Heart Center. As a DAISY Award recipient, the publicly elected Board of Directors recognized Isbill during its July board meeting.
“I am honored to receive this award!,” says Stephen Isbill, RN II. “I treat our patients like they are my family. I give them the best care possible with a smile on my face. Even if they are not my patients, I help on the floors answering call lights and help in any way I can.”
Isbill joined the Heart Center in August of 2005. He was nominated for the DAISY Award by the daughter and son of a patient. They stated he provided exceptional care to their mother and witnessed how compassionate and attentive he was towards her. “Stephen would show up with a warm smile and a wonderful attitude to help my mother,” wrote the patient’s son. “He is a warm and caring nurse who will stop everything he is doing to attend to his patients.”
“Stephen Isbill is a wonderful and dedicated registered nurse,” says Christie Gonder, RN, Chief Nursing Officer. “He sees patients at their worst and always manages to make them smile and to feel at ease. We are grateful Stephen is a part of our team.”
The following employees were also nominated for the July DAISY Award: Marlyn Berkenpas, RN II, Michael Brown, RN III, Israel Hester, RN I, Aracely Martinez, RN II, and Janice Suhat, RN II.
Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes an outstanding employee with a DAISY Award (for nurses) or a STAR Award (for all staff). Nominations can be submitted by patients, visitors and staff.
