About the provider

Nathaniel Uchtmann, MD, grew up on a farm in Illinois and came to California through a Global Health Fellowship that also took him and his family to rural Liberia. Having also lived in Kenya for several years, Dr. Uchtmann feels strongly about the importance of linking healthy people with healthy communities and a healthy planet. One of his top personal and professional goals is to integrate human health with environmental stewardship.

Dr. Uchtmann notes that the area we live in – home to the world’s tallest trees, the biggest ocean and breathtaking landscapes – serves as an important reminder of the beauty and fragility of the human experience. Ensuring we take appropriate care of our shared home, he says, holds great potential in helping us to rise collectively to the challenge of providing quality healthcare to all our community members.
