About the provider
Erica Locke, MD, FAAEM, FAAFP, is a board-certified physician in both emergency medicine and family medicine, with a particular focus on substance use disorder. She has a broad range of experience and works full-time at the Salinas Valley Health Emergency Department, which handles more than 60,000 patient visits annually.
Additionally, Dr. Locke serves as the Medical Director for Salinas Valley Health’s Substance Use Disorder Programs and Naloxone Distribution Program. She chairs the Physician and Practitioner Wellness Committee and is the physician lead for the Health Equity Team as well as the Director of Health Equity at the Emergency Department.
After earning her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 2010, Dr. Locke completed her internship and went on to finish a combined residency in emergency medicine and family medicine at Christiana Care Health System/Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
Her research experience includes service as principal investigator in a study on focused care management for patients who frequently use emergency department services. Dr. Locke successfully authored several grant proposals to expand substance use disorder programs at Salinas Valley Health. She has received numerous honors and awards including recognition as physician of the year with the 2023 Physician Excellence in Service Professionalism Award from Salinas Valley Health.
