Nursing Recognition
The DAISY Award®
Salinas Valley Health Medical Center honors nurses who have demonstrated exemplary clinical practice and exceed expectations in providing compassionate, patient-centered care with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The Daisy Award was developed by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away in 2000 from complications of an auto-immune disease, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. His family was greatly impressed by the skill, care, and compassion nurses showed Barnes before he died and created the national award to recognize and thank extraordinary nurses across the United States. Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, and other staff can nominate outstanding nurses for The DAISY Award.
