Magnet Recognition®
In May 2021, Salinas Valley Health achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition®, the highest and most prestigious distinction that a healthcare organization can achieve for nursing excellence. Earning this Magnet® designation reaffirms our steadfast commitment to nursing excellence and quality patient care.
The
American Nurses Credentialing Center, an affiliate of the American Nurses Association, bestows Magnet status
to elite medical centers who meet a rigorous set of criteria designed
to assess the strength and quality of nursing through the ANCC Magnet
Recognition Program®. Approximately 9% of medical centers in the United States have earned
Magnet recognition, many of which are esteemed, top-tier institutions
across the nation.
The process of pursuing Magnet recognition provides a roadmap for clinical and nursing excellence, which advances and benefits the entire organization. Excellent clinical and organizational outcomes are achieved by creating an environment that supports interprofessional collaboration, shared decision-making, innovation, and evidence-based practice. For patients, Magnet recognition ensures the highest quality care, delivered by nurses who are encouraged and supported to be the very best that they can be.
In 2016, Salinas Valley Health Medical Center embarked on the Magnet journey with the formation of a professional governance structure and the development of a professional practice model. Since then, Salinas Valley Health Medical Center has implemented many processes and infrastructures to support professional growth and autonomy, and clinical excellence.
As the first Magnet-recognized health care organization in the Central Coast area, Salinas Valley Health Medical Center embraces the responsibility to strive harder every day to deliver the highest quality of care to the community we serve. Learn more here.
